Don’t we usually see things better after we go through a circumstance and come out on the other side. My mom would always say “wasn’t I right about so and so?” Usually whatever we were arguing about or the situation she was keeping me from doing was for my benefit. I being the child/teenager didn’t see the danger or stupidity of the situation that I was about to get myself into but she or dad did. The same thing happens with our Heavenly Father except on a much grander scale. God is omnipotent, omnipresent, and omniscient. Unlike your parents or spouse He has seen your future and knows the end. He knows which path is the best for you. The following verse in Ephesians states just that…
Ephesians 2:10 -“For we are His creation, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared ahead of time so that we should walk in them.”
Romans 8:28 is one of my favorites when I forget that I have been chosen “We know that all things work together for the good of those who love God: those who are called according to his purpose. ” Both verses show us that our lives are tailor made for us.
There is divine providence that prepares the way and guides our steps. Priscilla Shirer defines divine providence as “plans he has for us, when scripture speaks to us at particular times, and when he goes before us preparing the way.” John MacArthur defines divine providence as “how God orchestrates everything to accomplish his purposes”. Both have similar meanings. We must be willing to wait for God’s timing. This can be the hardest thing to do. We often want to rush head first into the calling we feel in our hearts or into the unknown. The unknown can get us into trouble and rushing gets us into a place that God was not ready for us to be yet.
When God does decide to show us a small portion of the next step sometimes we have to let go of people/jobs/places in our lives that can’t go on to the next step with us. I have found this to be the hardest step. I hold on with all my might to people sometimes until they are ripped from me. I am learning to be more mindful of this process. Most of the time they can’t move into the next season with me. Do you have something or someone that is holding you back from doing a task that you have been called to do? I am sure you have heard the saying “Let go and Let God right?” Whoever came up with this could be onto something. God can’t fully do His task in you until you release it all to Him. As someone very wise recently said all you have to do is open your hands and let go. It seems so simple, yet so hard.
Have you found in the moments when you release what you are holding so tight it seems to correct itself, or you seem to find the right path, or that door opens? Now it might take some time for this to happen but it does in my experience. That is when after some time you have your hindsight moment. When You look back at how You met your husband, how you may have gotten several jobs, etc… where you can see the hand of God and how He orchestrated it all! Had this and that not happened you would have never gotten that job, or you would have never met that person. We all have those stories. It is what makes us who we are. I hope you have thanked God for all those times, I know I have! I know my life would not be the same had He not written my story His way.
