Bible Journaling

Bible Journaling Part 2

“The grass withers and the flowers fade, but the word of our God stands forever.” Isaiah 40:8 NLT

Did you know that Sparks learns about 75 verses every year! My husband and I are very involved in the AWANA ministry at our church.  He started the meeting this year with that fact and I was blown away.  I knew the kids learned a ton of verses but I did not realize just how many.  I could not tell you the last time I learned 75 verses in one year.  I feel more like a puggle (2 year old class) than a spark (k-2nd grade).  Isn’t that how we are as christians in our walks.  Some of us are seasoned like adults and some of use are babies still needing to be bottle fed.

The bible journaling is a way for me to express my creative side, and still meditate on the word of God. While coloring/drawing in my bible I am able to reflect either on the sermon or what I read and let the Holy Spirit speak to me.  Often it’s in the quiet moments we hear the loudest and best.

How do you learn/reflect best?

  • comfy chair in a quiet area
  • in the morning or in the evening
  • with a coffee at home or in a starbucks
  • with a notebook/highlighter/pen or just reading
  • do you use other resources like an app, commentary, or devotion

I like to use a combination of the above depending on how the day has went.  I do have pages in my journaling bible that I have started that I have been unable to complete because I could not find the right combination of colors, I was distracted, and for some reason it just didn’t work out.  Some of these pages I have went back to multiple times but I just can’t seem to get it right, whatever I want it to look like, no matter how I lay the page out.  It will come together eventually, so if you run into a road block just leave it until the inspiration strikes you. Here are the pages I was talking about, one is almost done the other has a ways to go.
