Have you ever lost something precious? What did you do? Did you wait to look for it or did you get up and immediately start looking for the object that you lost? When I have lost and object that is precious to me I look all over the house top and bottom and retrace my steps back to when I know I first had the object. There does come a time when I do give up looking if it has been hours and my search has come up void. I know eventually I will find the object but just not now. Do you know there is someone who will never stop searching for a lost object? I am sure most of you know who I am referring to, that’s right it’s Jesus. He told a parable about a shepherd who left the 99 behind to go to search for the 1 lost sheep. people thought he was crazy for thinking this was but if it was you wouldn’t you be so happy to see Him coming after you?
“Now all the tax collectors and the sinners were coming near Him to listen to Him. Both the Pharisees and the scribes began to grumble, saying, “This man receives sinners and eats with them.” So He told them this parable, saying, “What man among you, if he has a hundred sheep and has lost one of them, does not leave the ninety-nine in the open pasture and go after the one which is lost until he finds it?
And when he comes home, he calls together his friends and his neighbors, saying to them, ‘Rejoice with me, for I have found my sheep which was lost!’ I tell you that in the same way, there will be more joy in heaven over one sinner who repents than over ninety-nine righteous persons who need no repentance.”
Luke 15:1-4, 6-7 NASB
We get lost in the shuffle of life, in sin, and feel forgotten so many times. Often we feel alone even though we are on social media. I am so happy that He will drop it all and come running back for Me! Sometimes it’s all we can do to take the next step or to take the next breath in a day but we keep going because we have to. If this is you believe me I have been there and still are there some days. You are not alone. You will never be alone. Jesus gave it all when He died for you and me. He loves us so much that He went down and back to the gates of Hell for us so don’t think He won’t come find you in those dark places! All it needs is some light!
I love this song by Cory Asbury, it is based on Luke 15 and it says just that he will do anything to get to you!
Reckless Love
Before I spoke a word, You were singing over me
You have been so, so good to me
Before I took a breath, You breathed Your life in me
You have been so, so kind to me
Oh, the overwhelming, never-ending, reckless love of God
Oh, it chases me down, fights ’til I’m found, leaves the ninety-nine
I couldn’t earn it, and I don’t deserve it, still, You give Yourself away
Oh, the overwhelming, never-ending, reckless love of God, yeah
When I was Your foe, still Your love fought for me
You have been so, so good to me
When I felt no worth, You paid it all for me
You have been so, so kind to me
And oh, the overwhelming, never-ending, reckless love of God
Oh, it chases me down, fights ’til I’m found, leaves the ninety-nine
And I couldn’t earn it, and I don’t deserve it, still, You give Yourself away
Oh, the overwhelming, never-ending, reckless love of God, yeah
There’s no shadow You won’t light up
Mountain You won’t climb up
Coming after me
There’s no wall You won’t kick down
Lie You won’t tear down
Coming after me
There’s no shadow You won’t light up
Mountain You won’t climb up
Coming after me
There’s no wall You won’t kick down
Lie You won’t tear down
Coming after me
There’s no shadow You won’t light up
Mountain You won’t climb up
Coming after me
There’s no wall You won’t kick down
Lie You won’t tear down
Coming after me
There’s no shadow You won’t light up
Mountain You won’t climb up
Coming after me
There’s no wall You won’t kick down
Lie You won’t tear down
Coming after me
Oh, the overwhelming, never-ending, reckless love of God
Oh, it chases me down, fights ’til I’m found, leaves the ninety-nine
And I couldn’t earn it, I don’t deserve it, still, You give Yourself away
Oh, the overwhelming, never-ending, reckless love of God, yeah
